I don't really know what Gamergate is. That said, the government can't keep people from saying or thinking terrible things. My thoughts on this are that online social platforms are privately owned, and the owners have the right to set the rules for use and create a privacy policy that people agree to. If you don't agree to it, then don't use it.

Why are people paranoid about a home address being published? This is nothing new; it's been around for decades in the hard copy known as the White Pages.
