Winter fuel-saving driving technique! Handbrake u-turn / parking on snow

It's winter in the northern hemisphere! Maybe the roads are slippery where you live?

Make the most of your low-friction driving environment!

Save fuel by avoiding unnecessary multiple-point turns! Make efficient u-turns in significantly less space than normal!

I've been doing this so much lately, I've lost count. It only occurred to me yesterday that it actually also saves gas.

Wiki: handbrake (AKA bootlegger) turn

Of course, you don't necessarily need snow/ice to employ fuel-saving hooning. But it's much harder on the tires, and requires more input speed (therefore more serious consequences if it doesn't go as planned!).
