Anyhow, Ecoboost works if you're willing to work with it. This isn't a totally apples to apples comparison, but my company rented me a Ford Escape with a 2.0l EB a couple of years back. I did nothing but inflate the tires a bit and set the cruise at a conservative but not slow speed from Dallas to Memphis, and it returned, IIRC, 36mpg. Dip into that turbo boost and you definitely pay for it, but otherwise you'll see the benefit.
