I like bold claims, ksa8907.

Perhaps the best way to ease into the technology is to start with the easiest / safest driving environments, allowing autopilot to be enabled only in approved locations based on GPS location. A whitelist of autonomous driving locations, if you will. There could even be blacklists, areas of known difficulty, or areas so unknown that the feature is not allowed.

The car could even demand greater attention based on the relative risk. Safe areas allowing the driver to take hands off for longer periods of time, for instance, with more difficult areas requiring constant driver attention.

Always easier to bite off small pieces of a challenge than to shoot for the full thing at once.
