While you're swapping out the bulbs... you can also swap out the cargo / trunk light with a drop-in replacement that has a built-in switch so you can turn it off and keep the hatch open when needed.

Unfortunately the pics are gone from that thread, but they have the part numbers for the replacements.
Another thing you can look at is swapping out the battery for a bigger one. Yep, it will add a little weight but I've found it to be effective. (I have the GE not the GD model.) I've run down the standard battery several times in the past. I upgraded to a better battery and have never had that problem again.
