I think so, the only major Honda issues I can think of are the series of bad V6 automatic transmissions and those were in the early 2000's. I personally wouldn't buy a sedan or coupe anymore, but YMMV - hatches have so much more utility it's not funny, but my needs are not necessarily yours. Honda didn't sell a Civic hatchback for a long time, which left basically only the Fit and Insight, unless I'm forgetting about something.
I would pass on the Sonic, most reports I've read are that they're garbage, they fall apart and get terrible mileage for what they are. I think the Sonic EV is ok, but I doubt you'll find one for 10k.
If your budget is $10k, there are quite a few plug-in hybrids you could probably afford. Nearly all of them are hatches too. Running costs for a plug-in are easily half that of conventional gas cars, only a G1 Insight can even just match a large 5-door with electric range.
