I spent around $6,000 on my 8L high compression big block Chevy engine for my suburban. But I'm expecting this engine to go 100,000 miles and last 15 to 20 years and produce around 450 horsepower and 500 to 550 ft.lb. of torque.
I have seen doorman "reconditioned" leaf batteries for around $2,200. I don't know how much range they give you.
From what I have seen I should be able to install the battery my self. Looks about as fun as pulling and installing a full gas tank.
