That engine may well last 100,000 miles (it should last more than that) but you will also burn about $25,000 dollars of fuel to go those 100K miles. For an EV, the battery is pretty much the only consumable and you buy it upfront.

From what I have seen I should be able to install the battery my self. Looks about as fun as pulling and installing a full gas tank.
In April 2018, Nissan started offering factor reconditioned batteries for $2850. The only catch is right now they are only sold in Japan. Time will tell if they expand the program to the USA.
