Another flat

Holiday weekend here... and I got a flat on my way back from my sister's place this morning.

The summer shoes are an ancient set of weatherchecked RE92's on lightweight Suzuki alloys that I had on the ForkenSwift:

(Only now they're covered with coro wheel discs. And they're even older, and even more weatherchecked.)

They were all full of air when I left this morning, I swear! I wish I could say I noticed when it went flat, but I didn't. At some point I realized my "instant" MPG was suffering, but I chalked it up to a change in wind direction from behind to on the front quarter during the drive.

Turned out to be a cracked valve stem. I don't think I've ever had a valve stem fail before.

At least this time I noticed reasonably quickly, instead of putting hundreds of kilometers on a completely flat tire, like I did last time!
