The article I read was about 3 or 4 years old.
But people must be lieing to them selves. Because if fuel economy was important to new car buyers then why is ford discontinuing most car sales in North America and other makes are discontinuing economy car lines?
Maybe buyers are thinking more along the lines of the dodge SUV gets 17mpg and the competing GMC SUV gets 19. Go with the GMC.
Both are as roof over prone as can be so safety isn't much of a concern either.
