I had read that the US NAVY thought we might see a Blue Ocean Event by this September,but recent reporting seems to paint a more liberal picture.
One thing mentioned (it might have been Paul Beckwith) ,was that we need to pay attention to the Arctic ice VOLUME,and not necessarily surface area.
The 'ancient' ice was going away,and 'new' ice,while having 'area',had no appreciable mass compared to decades past.
AeroStealth commented awhile back,that we might want to go ahead and reserve our North Pole,water-skiing packages,before demand pushes prices up.
