NEDC is/was a rubbish test. Especially for anything with a battery.

EPA rates the 918 at 3.5 l/100km combined gas/electric, down to 11 l/100km on gasoline only (city/highway), and 9.8 l/100km on the highway.

The CR-Z is a great little sport compact saddled with the worst hybrid system in the world. Absolutely gutless performance and the fuel economy benefits of the hybrid system are questionable. It's basically a glorified stop start system that gives you a smidge more power when you floor it... but only in five second bursts.
