Not likely, that's been going on for a while. it wouldn't crop up just now like that.
Tesla was on the brink of passing 200.000 deliveries to US clients, which is the threshold for building off the $7500 per car subsidy, as measured at each quarter.
So they stored their cars in the factory (presumably) instead of sending them out to customers, which would have had them miss out on hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies.
No problem, the factory is gigantic. Space plenty for all those cars.
But not if it includes a 3rd production line...
But then several hundred million dollars is enough to make it worthwhile to build a temporary tent outside the factory to house that third production line. July will see many car deliveries and I bet the teardown of the tent. Or the proud announcement of a 4th production line.
We'll see.
