I have looked into rear hub motors for my front wheel drive car, but not too seriously. Hub motors are no "super car" option though: not enough power and not enough speed. QSMotor's hub motors are basically limited to about 70 mph.

But I think redpoint is correct about a straight EV would be simpler and coukd be soooo quick, relatively easily.
