They kept the driver's head in the typical location, mid-point of the wheelbase.

There is some driver disorientation in judging distances with the windshield so far away that should be avoided if not a fully autonomous vehicle.

Perhaps we shall see a resurgence of such designs once the technology is there and if resources are sparse enough to motivate the public in this direction.

As it sat in 1962, would be like the bad dream I used to have of trying to steer a car from the backseat.
