52/56 mpg round trip

So, I did a little (70 km) trip this weekend in great weather conditions (minimal wind) on a very MPG-friendly scenic route: 80 km/h / 50 mph max limit, through a couple of little villages with lower limits. Included several long engine-off coasting opportunities towards stops/turns...
  • There: 52 mpg US (4.5 L/100 km)
  • Back: 56 mpg / 4.2
Not too shabby! But it needs more mods. I'd like to be able to cruise at 50 mph at 50 mpg instant, and it's not quite there yet.

For comparison, here's what the Metro was doing on the same route in the same conditions (repeated on multiple trips)...
  • There: 73 mpg US (3.2 L/100 km)
  • Back: 78 mpg / 3.0
And I drove the Metro a bit faster than the MPGiata, and didn't have to concentrate as hard. Miata is a pig!
