I guess it follows an approach very similar to the "monovalentplus" employed by Opel on its CNG range. Well, even though in Brazil the up! is available only as a gasoline/ethanol flexfuel, since CNG can withstand to compression ratios higher than what would be safe to use with ethanol, it could somewhat explain the rough starts on gasoline...
