I don't even know for sure I can get coal so I doubt any one else will be able to either.
If I do get coal it will take a lot of work.
Most people just do what's easy and burn natural gas, propane, use a heat pump around here.
Natural gas costs $30 a month when I don't use it, propane is in the running for the top 2 most expensive ways to heat your home and none of them work when used in a central heating system if the power goes out.
The coal furnace requires 2 blowers that only draw about 100 watts each and I have a forklift battery with power inverter in the garage.
My start up cost for natural gas is at least $4,000.
