I'd still prefer the journal.They hit you with a brief,baby version (a few paragraphs).If you're still interested,they'll be a peer-reviewed 1-2 page 'Reader's Digest' version by a referee;then if you're hooked,you can go ahead with the full paper.
It moves pretty quickly.
The referee function is quite valuable,as they can flag,and illustrate weaknesses they've found in the presentations,and offer professional insights and recommendations to the reader.
In following issues,they'll cover retractions,corrections,etc.,if they discover mistakes after the fact.
