Who are you talking about again? Virtually every industry?
Partnering is stupid! That is why Toyota partnered with Subaru, BMW, Ford, Nissan, and I am sure more manufacturers.
Tesla doesn't need to do anything other companies do!
Except Tesla already cooperated with Daimler AG, which invested $50 million in 2009, and sold its stock in 2014 for $830 million:

According to
this, Daimler ended cooperation when Tesla became a rival.
Whatever! Who cares about something from four years ago?!
The Rav4 EV was a joint project with Tesla. Toyota invested $50 million in 2010 and sold it in 2016 for around $481 million. According to
this, Toyota also saw it as a competitor.
In one of those sources, Musk said they learned a great deal from Toyota, but Toyota [and Daimler] want to play small. They want to revolutionize the world.
