Yeesh, been a few years since I had a tire changed on the bike. I seem to remember somewhere around $25 too, since they balance.
I was going through rears every 3,000 miles also, but then again I rode like a hooligan. Fronts seemed to almost last as long as 3 rears.
I've got a new front on now that is different than my rear, and I question if that is ok, but since rears wear out so quickly anyhow, I should have the matching rear tire on it soon.
