In my youth, I once went on a 1hr exactly joyride. I came back after having put on exactly 100 miles on the odometer. That included going the 25 MPH speed limit through a small town.

I had been accustomed to riding at the 90% limit on the streets, so performance was a concern of mine. I'm not sure how much it matters performance wise to match tires, but it's something I'd be curious to know before taking foolish risks.

Now I stick around the 75% limit since track days satisfied my curiosity about the limits. It's still fun to flirt with the top end from time to time though.
