scientific data conspiracy

I ran across two scientific papers in NATURE,which addressed data used in climate models.
They both stated that anything prior to 1958 was deemed of too low a comprehensive quality and too low in resolution.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*High-resolution,full-time monitoring of atmospheric carbon-dioxide didn't begin until Keeling began in Hawaii.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Oceanographic data for the Atlantic basin, for example, wasn't available until 1992,after three,International Geophysical Year voyages had been completed, following Christopher Columbus's route across the Atlantic, for 1957,1981,and 1992.
*116 monitoring 'stations' were analyzed,at about 33-nautical mile separation,along a 4,408-statute-mile route.
*Full ocean depth surveys were run.
*24-water samples were obtained at each station.
*temperature,pressure,salinity and oxygen were recorded.
*Nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, silica, chlorofluorocarb ons,and trace metals were measured.
Data of this quality had up to 1958 not existed.
NOTE:the caveat would be declassified data from US,UK,and USSR naval operations which are still undergoing transcription from written ships logs into an electronic database, which is estimated to take until 2041 to complete.
Raw data for the Atlantic research would be available from:
*Instituto Espanol de Oceanographia,Madrid,Spain
*ditto,Santander,Spain
*James Rennell Center for Ocean Circulation,Massachusetts,USA
*Massachusetts Institute of Technology,USA
*Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution,Massachusetts,USA
*Conseil International Pour L' Exploration de la Mer,Denmark
