Unless it is a full stainless exhaust with stainless fasteners, wrapping the system generally leads to rust through. Btdt, couple of times including a LA only vehicle. Had one system that fell off the truck intact because the hangers weren't stainless. There is all kinds of corrosive crud being splashed up by the tires even in the desert. If there weren't, the bottom of your vehicle would be clean and rustfree as the day you bought it.
