Probably the fastest way to mod this is get a different temp sensor. Afaik, there is no actual requirement to test coolant temps for smog compliance, only to ensure that at some temperature the engine is effcient and in closed loop. A higher temp thermostat might work, but I am unsure of that concept in practice

Hopefully you dont have to take the front of the car off to change it like my old ford focus
