Bizarre. I somehow lost half of my post. Tom Naughton documented eating fast food--mostly McDonald's--every day for 28 days and losing a significant amount of weight, but limited daily calories to 2,000 and carbohydrates to 100g.
However, he must have eaten at least 3,500 calories a day previous to his experiment to lose this much.
This professor lost more weight over a longer period of time on a "Hostess" diet, although a third of his calories came from a protein shake and vegetables. They say he would have needed to eat 2,600 pounds to maintain 201 pounds, but he maintained less than 1,800.
He is 5'10".

The source that I just gave for his height extrapolated that number from the numbers CNN gave. They also said nobody should have listened to a fat nutritionist. Someone commented they found the professor's food log, which averaged 1,486 calories a day. Dr. Haub commented that he exercised ninety minutes a week.
