I get lean burn at any SOC above empty... maybe anything above 15% I'd guess? It's whatever the threshold is that allows auto-stop, so if I have one I have the other.
My battery shows empty but I'm feeding the computer a straight 50% signal (via arduino) right now. The battery gauge apparently reads from something else as it always shows empty regardless of what SOC I feed the ECU. It almost never gets above freezing so I'm not getting unwanted auto-stop but if I go much longer I'm going to start cutting climate control wires until I find whatever one disables auto-stop.
