Thanks for these. I do think I likely need to redo the valve seals or the piston rings because the car loses about a quart of oil every 3000-4000 miles. Some of that is leaking out, but I am willing to bet that after 266,000 miles, some is getting burned. Seals and rings have never been replaced.

But here is the thing... the CAT dtc has not returned since a few weeks ago. And it showed up after about 60 miles continuous (some P&G) driving. If oil is the culprit it would have to have been leaking pretty bad and given the conditions of the failure, it would probably have recurred sooner, rather than later, no?
