The Tupelo to home leg showed evidence of running out of charge so I changed the route. I took a shorter route on county roads, 45 mph, to extend the range and arrive home with 15-17 miles remaining. The most valuable lesson was learning how the car let us track the distance and remaining charge.

I'd make a point about how my Insight can make that trip on less in gasoline, but it seats only 2, it's loud, rattly, the stock seats are uncomfortable, and it's around 11 seconds to 60 with assist working. Calling the handling "sporty" would be a generous way of saying you can feel every bump in the road.

If I weren't such a miser and wanted a new car, a Tesla would be on my short list.

While I'm thinking about it, I've noticed a handful of used Model S around the price of a new 3, and I have to wonder which would be the better buy.
