It is not a good idea to buy the 150 km version because Tesla will not allow you to upgrade its range.

The existence of the Standard version frees up the rebate for the Standard Range Plus too, so that's the one Tesla wants you to buy. With the rebate it comes just under CAD $50,000, FSD and all. As both versions use the same battery there will be little difference costwise, so it is easy to see the logic.
Perhaps it will change when demand for the more expensive versions wanes enough to free up capacity for large numbers of Standard range cars?
