Our last new car we bought was a 2003 Jetta Wagon TDI. We drove it 239,038 miles over 10 years. At about 200,000 miles things in the interior started breaking and I got tired of fixing it so I sold it to a friend of my dad's. He has put another 100K or so on it and it is still going strong.

Why wouldn't you keep a Honda longer than that? ...
People want something different. In my adult life I've only had 1 car that I replaced because something major failed. The rest I'd had about 10 years and just wanted something different.

Then there is leasing. About 30% of new cars sales are leased and a typical lease term is 2-3 years. I'll only put about 27-28K miles on my Spark EV before it goes back this fall. (The Spark was an impulse purchase more to see what driving an EV was like than anything)
