Yeah, good point. Maybe I will mod the thread title. Late in writing the post I decided to add those projects that put a newer drivetrain into an old shell because they seemed related. I admit, the thread title is meant to attract certain search results (not saying it will). There's an ambiguity. Projects from the old days that might be comprable to musclemodded ecocars like a K-powered Insight might have been whenever some guy dropped a V8 into an Vega, Opel, Chevette or something. But the engine bays were often too small and so the engine assembly sticks out of a hood cutout, messing with the aerodynamics pretty badly. These newer ones like a K-powered Insight can look stock from the outside while creating a lot of power, 250-400+ HP it seems. But they're still aerodynamically intact, have great gearing options, and can be fuel mapped in ways that kinda make them fuel sippers on demand. AND they can pass as street cars. It's more than a Vega V8 could hope to accomplish, probably.

Here is a Vega with the big cutout:

This '68 Opel GT is really cool looking:

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.
