I don't know how people get less than 40mpg out of a Prius on the highway. Even when I have the cruise set to 80 or a bit more (yes, I'm the Prius driver usually passing people :P ), I still get mid-40s. Short trips around town I can see getting less than 40mpg, especially in extreme temperatures.
