True, and that's why I'm "un-hybrid-ing" my Insight, because my fuel economy is the same with or without the hybrid battery, and I want more storage space in the car for college. But my mom drives well over 20k miles a year, and isn't an extreme hypermiler, so driving a car that is very fuel efficient regardless of driving style is key for her. Her annual fuel cost has literally been cut in half with the Prius versus the Sienna minivan that kissed a deer last year.
