Long before "Frasier" he was in a show called "The Powers That Be." In one scene he happily hums as he ties a curtain cord into a noose, puts a chair next to the window, puts the noose around his neck, jumps off, and opens the drapes.
His wife called him and he responded "Coming, dear!"
