Sub is an 8" Planet Audio from Amazon, I believe it was around $25 shipped and I'm pleased with the sound. I still use it, and in fact it's part of the support for the rear floor. No issues with rattling!
For a while I used one of the rear driver seat bolts as a ground - they work quite well.
