i've been trying really hard and even my 2010 Prius can only get 61-62 mpg around town on my tank average going 120 miles now.
I did have a friend who bought a prius come over and demand me to teach him how to drive his car yesterday. He said he thought his battery was bad since he was only getting 41 mpg. I took it from my house to main street and back ~10 miles (straight, mild hills, 45 mph) and managed to get the gauge to read 84 mpg (on an already warm car on a hot day). He wasn't happy though when I told him to roll the windows down and try not to use the AC so much, pulse and glide the car with neutral, quit stomping on the brakes, and never go over 45 mph.
He told me: "Nah man I can't drive like that."
Crazy to me the amount of people who will buy Pri' and then proceed to drive them to where the hybrid has no benefit to them over a civic or something.
