A solar 'irradiance' forcing would be limited to an effect caused solely by the difference in actual solar energy reaching Earth's surface,as during a complete,eleven-year solar cycle (although some cycles don't produce a difference in irradiance)
Other forcings associated with the Sun would have to do with seasons,dust,smoke,soot,aerosols,cloud cover,photo-chemical atmospheric anomalies,eclipses,the three Milankovich orbital perturabation cycles of tilt,wobble,and eccentricity.
