In case you haven't noticed, it's not as if the US is in a race to the top as far as candidates go. We're made of the same stuff as anyone else, and susceptible to similar motivations. Only controversial people are "newsworthy" so reasonable people stand no chance to spark the passion of the masses.

My estimation is that our biggest threats are the ones not talked about at all. If you want a dose of reality, watch Dr. Strangelove again. It's not going to be unsecured borders or Global Warming that causes mass suffering, not that those topics aren't worthy of consideration, but that they aren't even in the same realm of threat to the well-being of humanity.

Name any topic in the news/politics, and I can probably come up with several dozen more important instantly.

... mass shooters- very bad... not as bad as our suicide problem or opioid addiction.
