As far as I can tell, there is not any oil on the belt, although there is a large amount of dirt. I blame the lack of pavement.

I started my car and the belt said "Chirp, chirp, chirp, squeal!" I loosened it perhaps one full turn, tried again, and it was quieter. I never start my car twice in a row, but so far it only makes noise on startup. I loosened it again and it was louder.
Loosen, quieter.
Loosen, louder.
It was finally quieter than any of the previous attempts, but there is a clear gap between the bolthead and the bracket, it did not seem that having it that loose accomplished anything.
Perhaps I needed to tighten.
I sure hope it wasn't suddenly the other belt!
