48V ( more like 55V for just-off-the-charger lead-acid cells) at 500A is 30 - 35-ish HP peak. Kinda like the original under-powered (IMHO) beatle.

Driving each of the 4 wheels with a 10 - 15 HP electric motor and a 5:1 gear reduction ... would get you up to 65 mph ... eventually ...

35 HP on each wheel and a 4:1 gear reduction would get you a speeding ticket ... but you might overheat the heck out of the motors
