Ice is melting at unprecedented rates. Antarctica has gone from record high ice area in 2014 to record low now. The turnaround is breathtaking - about 1.9 Million square kilometers of loss is just 5 years. West Antarctica ice is going to go away in the summer, much more quickly than we thought just a few years ago.
Arctic ice is at its second lowest point on record, and the low is coming later in September than ever in the record.
The global total of ice area has dropped each decade since the '80's and each year since 2016. The 80's area was 25.52 Million square kilometers, and 2019 it is 21.97 Million square kilometers - 3.55 Million square kilometer LOSS.
Virtually ALL glaciers are losing a lot of ice - and this is already massively affecting the water supply for about a quarter of the people on earth.
