litesong — Please resist the temptation to respond to me. THX

redpoint5 —I don't divulge my responses to the data mine, but I'm pretty sure I'd be there. It's a popular position with e.g.; Tim Pool and Shoe On Head. Bell curves and all that.

Was it Political Compass?

Apparently liberal/conservative is economics, not political.

That 4-colored graphic on the political compass link looks familiar. I took the test probably 12 years ago though. Not sure if it's changed, but I'll have to take it again and see how I've moved.

I wouldn't mind litesong's responses if they didn't make my eyes bleed. All the needless hy-phe-na-tion drives me nuts, which I suppose is the point (or am I missing something?). Keep hoping for a comment of substance rather than ad-hominems.

Ice melting?
Good.
I would be worried if the ice was growing.

Your self-description is perfectly accurate. But, you shouldn't copy what others say about "re-pubic-lick-uns".

Rather than seeing it as a disappointment, I see it as an exciting opportunity to be part of guiding the world through the most challenging transition that has ever been forced upon us in the 300,000 years of human existence. The world is full now. Humans and our livestock outweigh wild animals 50:1. Natural resource access is tipping over the peak of ore grade quality, soil grades, fresh water, since we have used the best first. We are not going to build our way out of this jam. Degrowth is the only way. By choice or collapse.

Ice is melting at unprecedented rates. Antarctica has gone from record high ice area in 2014 to record low now. The turnaround is breathtaking - about 1.9 Million square kilometers of loss is just 5 years. West Antarctica ice is going to go away in the summer, much more quickly than we thought just a few years ago.

Arctic ice is at its second lowest point on record, and the low is coming later in September than ever in the record.

The global total of ice area has dropped each decade since the '80's and each year since 2016. The 80's area was 25.52 Million square kilometers, and 2019 it is 21.97 Million square kilometers - 3.55 Million square kilometer LOSS.

Virtually ALL glaciers are losing a lot of ice - and this is already massively affecting the water supply for about a quarter of the people on earth.
