I'm not sure what I'm looking at here.
Stainless steel panels to protect from road grit (Segment protectors). Unnecessary and ugly. Like jowls on a dog. Ruins the lines.

The vertical box is the propane tanks. Which were and could still be made horizontal to fit under nose and above frame. (Below an example with the whale-sized AVION 34’ basement model; a 1989 contemporary to mine which is far lower in height but hire the tanks in body. AS once did same ).
