Looks like something I'd have done in my teens or early 20's... who am I kidding, I'd probably do it now if someone even hinted at how cool it would be to try.
My buddy that I trust most to belay me while rock climbing often gets right/left reversed, and I've even made turns opposite of his instructions before knowing his propensity to make that error. This is one place that clear communication from the spotter is crucial.
Reminds me of the time when I was a kid helping my dad back up, and I yelled "slow" increasingly louder until my dad backed into something. For some reason, in a panic, I just repeated the thing I had been saying rather than communicate clearly.
Speaking of clear communication, I've really been enjoying Fireside Chats with Prager recently. While I don't agree on some topics which I hold strongly held positions, I can respect a person that is well intentioned, has given sufficient rational thought to the topic, and communicates clearly.
