Grasslands hold more carbon per acre than forests. Grass is 80% root and trees are 50%. Grass roots are incredibly dense, and they go down as far as 40'-50'.
There are more grasslands on the planet than there are forests.
Grass grows much faster than trees. (Bamboo is a grass, by the way.)
When grass is grazed, it abandons a proportional amount of roots, and it then regrows new roots, in that 80/20 proportion. This PUMPS a massive amount of carbon into the soil.
If we restored all the native grasslands around the world, and we managed them in a way that mimics the large herds of herbivores that used to be there - we could have the atmosphere back BELOW 350ppm in LESS THAN A DECADE.
Cows could SAVE the climate.
