What was the interval on the original Mini? It had its gears in the engine oil, and they had to be a bit oversize because of that. BTW, that was a hack forced on Issigonis because they wouldn't build the flat four he had drawn.
There is no excuse for a land vehicle to weigh more than its average payload.
