One of my most favoritest books (packed away in some box with the others) is YV88. Published in 1977 by Sierra Club Books, it was about the Yosemite Valley in 1988 subtitled 'First they took out the roads...'

Basically it's a light rail spank- scrapbook. Filled with illustrations of an American Craftsman-style hotel built bridging the rail line, camp shelter and hand carts. IIRC the flow chart for an off grid house's utilities was on page 71.
