My shed is secured with a carabiner, to keep the hasp shut. What's a lock going to do other than cost money and inconvenience?

The same can be said of a house. After the locksmith incident I thought about upgrading my locks. Then I looked at the window next to the door. Then I thought about how easy it would be to cut a new ‘door’ in my wall with a battery powered circular saw.
I do have a lock on my shed. I want someone to have to make at least a little bit of noise to steal my stuff.
