But it's still better having one than leaving valuables unlocked. BTW last year I had some problems with the lock of my apartment, and it was a PITA to fix that mostly because of all the work to disassemble it. I even considered to attempt some makeshift with a padlock and a chain, but then besides the ease to defeat it there were some privacy concerns if I wanted to keep it possible to unlock from either inside or outside.
